Footnotes

1. Specification I.T.70 for thin homogeneous hard armour of 3mm to 30mm thickness. [up]

2. Specification I.T.80 for thick homogeneous machineable armour of 15mm thickness and over. [up]

3. Source: Jentz, Thomas L: Tank Combat in North Africa and Robert Livingston. Jentz is used for pre ’42 armour and Livingston for ’42 to ’45 armour. There is a minor error in Jentz where he gives the BHN for I.T.80 armour plate as 300–321 instead of 300–331. Due to the nature of the original specifications, determining an exact BHN for British armour is impossible; see the British Weapons Data page for further discussion. [up]
